Say ‘ KASHMIR WILL RISE AGAIN INSHA ALLAH’ Srinagar, Nov 14: In a march through old city roads, children with candles silently prayed for those who bore the brunt during September floods. Titled ‘ Baye Parav’, the march was spearheaded by students of New Bonvivant English School to express their solidarity with the flood affected children of Kashmir. The day- long event commenced with the distribution of school bags and stationary items at Shutra Shahi where the Principal Boys Higher Secondary School Batamaloo, Nisar Ahmad Ahanger and SO Director of School Education, Nusrat Beigh distributed bags among the children. " This is the collective responsibility of our society to see that our children continue with their studies come what may. We have just tried our little bit to bring smiles on the faces of these little angels. Literacy is our mission and we will carry on the mission of spreading light of literacy even in difficult times,” said Nazir Ahmed Wani, Chairman New Bonvivant school. At 5: 30 P. M, around 3000 students assembled at Nawakadal chowk to participate in the candle march which was flagged off by Dr Amit Wanchoo, eminent social activist and CEO Space Communications. The students carrying candles and placards were supported by local citizens, pedestrians, youth, old and elderly females as well. The march ended at the Eidgah Park where a large number of people had gathered to witness the event. Dr Amit Wanchoo in his address said, “ Youngsters are always the ray of hope in any society. The way boys and girls have participated in this candle march bringing light in darkness at eidgah makes me believe that God is with Kashmiris and we will come out of this dark phase soon.” Students assembled with candles on an outline of Jammu and Kashmir map and within the map all students lit thousands of candles to pave the way for a slogan ‘ KASHMIR WILL RISE AGAIN INSHA ALLAH’. Students observed two minute silence in memory of the flood victims. Published on Greater Kashmir on 14th Nov 2014 |
